SIU Clears Chatham Officer of Wrong DoingFri Mar 12th, 2010
The province's Special Investigations Unit has cleared Chatham-Kent Police of any wrong-doing in a fatal crash earlier this year.

37-year-old Michael Henderson died after slamming into some trees on Grand River Line -- near St. Clair College -- January 28th. The S-I-U says the speedometer was stuck at the point of impact at 110-kilometres per hour. Officers had been tailing Henderson on a tip about an erratic driver. They say Henderson was driving in the wrong lane -- and at one point two cruisers had to take evasive action to avoid being hit. The whole chase lasted less than a minute. The S-I-U says with light traffic conditions at the time -- the need to apprehend the suspect outweighed the risk to public.
