Concerns about doctor-patient confidentiality has convinced a tribunal at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital to conduct Doctor Barbara Heartwell's hearing behind closed doors.

The hearing was open to the media just long enough to hear legal arguments for and against holding the hearing in public.

Heartwell voluntarily withdrew her priveledges at Hotel Dieu Grace after performing two mistaken mastectomies, but changed her mind three days later.

If the tribunal rules against her, she can appeal to the Health Professional Appeal and Review Board.
